The workshop will last around 3 hours during which you will learn the essentials of traditional jewellery wax carving and create a one-of-a-kind ring for yourself or a loved one using the ancient lost-wax casting technique. We will start by sketching out our design ideas and then move onto carving our rings which is a slow and mindful process.
In the carving workshop we work on one piece for the duration, slowly removing small pieces of wax to reach our finished form. This material can be used to carve and shape intricate designs, working with hand tools such as scalpels and files. This workshop is perfect for beginners and no experience is necessary. However, if you have previous jewellery making experience you are more than welcome to join, you can also do this workshop multiple times as you can create a new design each time and develop your skills!
The ticket price includes your item cast in 100% recycled sterling silver. Pieces will take approximately 4 weeks to cast and finish in the studio after the workshop.
This workshop is led by founder of Dripped goods, Amy Flynn. Amy has a BA in Jewellery Design from London College of Fashion and has over 10 years experience in the jewellery field. She designed the medals for the World Gymnastic Championships in 2022 and has been nominated for Liverpool City Region Artist of the year. She has showcased work in the Bluecoat Display Centre and the Manchester Contemporary and has led multiple workshops at venues including TATE Liverpool.

Please note:
I have had to introduce an additional casting fee of £15 to cover the costs on extra heavy pieces as metal prices have increased, this allows me to keep my costs down for the majority. Rings up to 20g in silver (2g in wax) are included in the ticket price (This is a fairly substantial ring and most designs will be able to fit within this weight) You can decide on the day if you want to upgrade to a heavier ring.
All pieces are cast & then hand – finished by Amy in her Birkenhead Studio, please allow 4 weeks after the workshop for your items to be finished. Upon completion pieces can be collected from the Hamilton square studio on Wednesdays Only between 10am- 5:30pm or posted to you via special delivery for £10 (arrives next day) Again, you can decide on the day of the workshop wether you would like to pay for delivery or opt for free collection.
Cancellation of this ticket is not possible within 2 weeks of the workshop, this is to allow enough time to re-sell the ticket. This workshop requires a minimum of 4 people to go ahead, if there are less people subscribed the event may be cancelled. Thanks for your understanding.
